OEG Energy’s Seajet Systems Achieves Breakthrough with Hydromole E-CFE Technology

Seajet Systems, a subsidiary of , has recently achieved a significant milestone with the successful wet testing of its groundbreaking all- controlled flow excavation (E-CFE) technology named Hydromole. The wet test, conducted at the research centre in Blyth, Newcastle, marks a pivotal moment in the development of the world's first all-electric twin CFE, poised for commercial deployment in the global subsea market.

The Hydromole E-CFE system, touted as the most potent and advanced solution on the market, boasts the capability to deliver an impressive 400kW of power to the seabed, regardless of water depth. Moreover, its advanced control system enables real-time monitoring and optimization of system performance, ensuring reliability and maximizing project uptime, as affirmed by OEG.

Departing from conventional hydraulic technology, the E-CFE not only significantly reduces CO2 emissions but also offers substantial fuel cost savings of up to 40%. Additionally, it eliminates the risk of high-pressure, high-volume oil spills into the marine environment, aligning with sustainability goals.

The versatility of the Hydromole system extends across the entire lifecycle of energy projects, encompassing pre-commissioning, construction, inspection, maintenance, repair, and eventual decommissioning. Its non-contact excavation and trenching method enable a multitude of applications, including seabed preparation, cable and pipeline trenching, backfilling, free-span mitigation, and subsea infrastructure deburial.
