Ridge Clean Energy (RCE) has submitted a planning application to the Energy Consents Unit of the Scottish Government for the establishment of the Ladyfield Renewable Energy Park, situated approximately 5km north of Inveraray in Argyll.
The proposed project aims to combine 13 onshore turbines with a capacity of 58.5MW along with a 40MW battery energy storage system (BESS). According to the developer, this integration will facilitate efficient and dependable domestic renewable energy generation.
Marjorie Glasgow, co-founder and chief executive of RCE, emphasized the broader impact of the project beyond energy production, stating, “We develop each project with the scope to do so much more than generate power and tackle the climate crisis.”
Furthermore, RCE has been actively engaging with the local community since 2019, collaborating with Inspire Inveraray to revitalize the neglected Inveraray Pier in Loch Fyne. The pier is scheduled to be reopened to the public later this year.
Glasgow highlighted RCE's commitment to building community partnerships, stating, “The Ridge team have a proven track record in both developing high-quality UK renewable energy projects and building community partnerships that have wide-ranging benefits for the local areas throughout the lifetime of our projects.”
In addition to their efforts regarding the pier, RCE plans to establish the Ladyfield Community Benefit Fund, associated with the Renewable Energy Park, for the duration of the project's lifespan, which could extend up to 40 years.
The proposal will now undergo consideration by the Local Authority Planning Committee, with the final consenting decision resting with the Scottish Government.
