Electrica Initiates Competitive Bidding for 27-MW Solar Park in Satu Mare, Romania

Romanian utility Societatea Energetica SA, commonly known as Electrica, has opened competitive bidding for the installation of a 27-MW solar park in Satu Mare county, . Interested parties are invited to participate in the bidding process, with the deadline set for January 31, 2024, as per the documents.

The selected contractor will be responsible for the turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the Satu Mare 2 (PV) park, a project valued at RON 110.1 million (USD 24.2 million/EUR 22.1 million).

The solar park, located near the commune of Botiz in northwestern Romania, has reached the ready-to-build phase, with all necessary grid-connection and building permits already secured.

Electrica acquired the project in March last year when it took control of Sunwind Energy Srl, the original developer, as part of its 2019-2023 strategy to expand operations in the power generation sector, with a specific focus on .

This initiative follows Electrica's previous ventures in the solar sector, including the operation of a 7.5-MW solar park in Giurgiu County. The utility had also conducted a tender last summer for the construction of a 12-MWp solar farm in Vrancea county, located in eastern Romania.
