RWE Renewables is set to commence construction later this year on its 63MW Strathy Wood onshore wind farm in the northern region of Scotland, with pre-construction activities already in progress. The developer aims to bring the project online by 2025, contributing to the company's broader commitment to sustainable energy initiatives.
Situated in Caithness in the Highlands, Strathy Wood will host a total of 11 turbines, further bolstering RWE's portfolio in the Scottish renewable energy landscape.

The company is concurrently overseeing the construction of two additional wind farms in Scotland – the 69MW Enoch Hill in East Ayrshire and the 36MW Camster 2 in the Highlands. Both projects, managed by civil engineer Farrans, are anticipated to reach completion in 2025.
RWE's Head of Scottish Onshore Renewables Development, Victoria Allen, expressed the company's optimism for the future, stating, “RWE is entering 2024 strong, with our ambition in Scotland ever growing, and we are delighted to have reached significant construction milestones for Enoch Hill, Camster 2, and now Strathy Wood.”
Highlighting the pivotal role onshore wind plays in meeting the UK and Scottish governments' net-zero emission targets, Allen emphasized its position as the most cost-effective form of renewable electricity generation.
