Adani Energy Invests $360 Million in Gujarat Transmission Line Project

Adani Energy Solutions has announced a strategic investment of $360 million to construct a transmission line connecting a solar and wind energy park in , Western , to the national power grid. The acquisition of Halvad Transmission, a transmission network project in Gujarat, was successfully completed through a competitive bidding process with , as revealed in a statement by Adani on Wednesday.

Halvad Transmission, an integral part of India's , was originally established by PFC Consulting to facilitate the transportation of 7 gigawatts (GW) of electricity from the Khavda solar energy park, boasting a substantial generation capacity of 30 GW.

Adani Energy, renowned for its extensive private power distribution network, aims to complete the 765-kilovolt Halvad transmission line, spanning 301 kilometers (187 miles), within a 24-month timeframe. Furthermore, the company intends to assume the responsibility of operating and maintaining the transmission line for an impressive duration of over 35 years.

With the inclusion of the Halvad Transmission project, Adani Energy's cumulative transmission network, encompassing both installed and commissioned lines, is set to reach an impressive 20,518 circuit kilometers (12,750 miles), according to the company's official statement.

India, aligning with global environmental goals, has committed to achieving net-zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2070. As part of this initiative, the country aims to significantly enhance its non-fossil fuel power capacity to 500 GW by the year 2030, a substantial increase from the current capacity of 186 GW.

This strategic move by Adani Energy exemplifies the ongoing efforts within the Indian energy sector to bolster renewable energy infrastructure and contribute to the nation's ambitious sustainability targets.
