Renewable Connections and European Energy UK have announced the sale of two co-located solar and battery storage projects in Scotland. The sites, located at Strathruddie Farm and Montreathmont Moor, have a combined capacity of 121MWdc (67MWac) and were consented in 2022. The buyer of the projects was EVC Kilt, a subsidiary of EVC Energy, a renewable energy development platform that focuses on solar PV and BESS projects in Greece and the UK.
The sale of these shovel-ready projects highlights the success of Renewable Connections in achieving consents for renewable energy projects, according to Michael Hughes, Director at Renewable Connections. He stated, “We deliver highly innovative developments and take a responsible, community-led approach to planning and design. As well as achieving an outstanding record of project consents to date, it also means we deliver projects which appeal to investors such as EVC Energy and our existing co-development project partners.”

Adam Spearey, Director at European Energy UK, added that the sale of the projects was driven by the unprecedented success Renewable Connections has achieved in consenting solar and storage projects over the last year, with over 500MW of projects consented under their partnership to date.
The acquisition of the Scottish solar projects by EVC Kilt underscores the company's commitment to developing and constructing solar PV and BESS projects in the UK and Greece. According to EVC Energy, the company has a current pipeline of 1.5GW, reflecting its strong interest in the renewable energy sector.
With the world's focus on decarbonization, the sale of these projects underscores the importance of solar energy in meeting the energy demands of the future. In the words of Michael Hughes, “Renewable energy is the future, and we are proud to play a part in making it a reality.”
