French renewable power producer Voltalia SA has successfully divested a 90-MW ready-to-build wind project, named Casqueira, located in the northeastern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte, to Japan's Toda Corp. The transaction marks the second collaboration between the two entities within the expansive 2.4-GW Serra Branca wind-and-solar cluster.
Casqueira's development plan includes the installation of 15 turbines supplied by Nordex Acciona, and construction is slated to commence in the first half of 2024. The anticipated completion date is set for the first quarter of 2025.
The project is an integral part of the larger Serra Branca cluster, boasting a combined wind and solar capacity of 2.4 GW. Notably, 1.8 GW of this capacity is already operational, with Voltalia retaining ownership of 1 GW. The remaining operational capacity was previously sold to various partners.

This transaction follows a similar deal three years ago when Voltalia initially collaborated with Toda Corp, selling and divesting a 28-MW wind farm within the Serra Branca cluster. Voltalia continues to provide operation and maintenance (O&M) services for this asset.
In line with the ongoing partnership, discussions are currently underway for Voltalia to extend its O&M services to the newly sold Casqueira project, reinforcing the collaborative relationship between the French renewable energy company and the Japanese real estate group.
