Bluefield Renewable Developments Gains Approval for 49.9-MW Solar Farm and 60-MW Battery Storage in Northumberland

Renewable Developments Ltd, a prominent player in the UK sector, has received planning permission for the establishment of a 49.9-MW solar farm accompanied by a co-located 60-MW battery system (BESS) in Northumberland, England. The project, named Broadway House Solar Farm and Battery Storage Project, is set to be located at a former open-cast coal mining site in Bedlington.

Upon completion, the solar farm will not only contribute to power generation but also integrate agriculture practices, allowing for sheep grazing on the site. This innovative approach aligns with Bluefield's commitment to combining initiatives with sustainable land use.

Broadway House marks Bluefield's third solar project in Northumberland, distinguishing itself as the first in the county to incorporate a co-located BESS. The approval follows the success of the company's previous ventures in the region, including the 49.9-MW Burnt House Solar Farm and the 49.9-MW Low Horton Farm, both approved last year.

Bluefield Renewable Developments operates under the umbrella of the Bluefield Group, a key player in the UK solar sector. The latest project reinforces the company's dedication to advancing renewable energy while embracing innovative and environmentally conscious practices.
