Huisman, a leading provider of heavy construction equipment, has been awarded a contract for a significant upgrade to the Offshore Mast Crane on the Aegir vessel owned by Heerema.
The project aims to enhance the second main hoist capacity from 2000 metric tonnes to an impressive 3200 metric tonnes, particularly beneficial for the installation of large jacket foundations. This upgrade will reinforce the Aegir vessel's position as one of the world's largest monohull crane vessels.
The improved crane will feature a fixed jib section and a robust 3200 metric tonnes lower block and hook, providing advanced lifting capabilities crucial for Heerema's upcoming projects. Originally equipped with a 4000 metric tonnes Offshore Mast Crane by Huisman in 2013, the Aegir vessel underwent a successful upgrade in 2020, increasing the lifting capacity of the main hoist to 5000 metric tonnes.
Huisman's CEO, David Roodenburg, expressed the company's honor in collaborating with Heerema on this milestone upgrade for the Aegir vessel. The project reflects Huisman's commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions, enhancing operational efficiency for clients, and reinforcing their capabilities for present and future endeavors in the industry.
