Indian power producer SJVN Ltd has been awarded the opportunity to construct 200 MW of grid-connected wind power capacity in the country. The project will be executed by a unit of SJVN under a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI), arising from a competitive auction conducted by the state-run solar company for 1,200 MW of wind power.
The estimated cost of the project is INR 14 billion (USD 168m/EUR 154m), and the PPA is structured with a tariff of INR 3.24/kWh. The geographical location of the site within India remains undetermined, offering flexibility in project placement.
SJVN aims to complete the project within 24 months, targeting commissioning by November 2025. In its inaugural year of operation, the newly established plant is projected to generate 482 million kWh of electricity.
This development propels SJVN's wind portfolio to a total capacity of 497.6 MW, as highlighted in the company's official statement. The expansion underscores the company's commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives in India, aligning with the nation's broader goals for sustainable and diversified power generation.
