Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has secured a substantial order for 60 V163-4.5MW turbines, totaling 270MW in capacity, destined for an undisclosed wind project owned by an Engie North America subsidiary in the United States. The order encompasses the entire process from supply and delivery to commissioning, coupled with a 20-year service agreement.
Turbine delivery is slated to commence in the third quarter of 2024, with commissioning expected in the first quarter of 2025. Laura Beane, President of Vestas North America, expressed anticipation in collaborating with Engie as it expands its wind energy portfolio across the US. Beane highlighted the suitability of the V163-4.5MW turbine for the US market, emphasizing its optimization for low to medium wind speeds.
Engie North America's Chief Renewables Officer and Country Head, Dave Carroll, conveyed excitement about the collaboration with Vestas, emphasizing their joint focus on accelerating the energy transition in North America. The order marks a strategic move in advancing Engie's commitment to clean energy development and aligns with Vestas' role as a key player in the global wind turbine market.
