TMC Compressors has secured a contract to provide a compressed air system for a jack-up foundation vessel by , with Cosco Heavy Industries placing the order for the innovative equipment. The Smart Air compressors, designed to deliver up to 40% in energy savings compared to traditional models, will be integral to Cadeler's F-class vessel, tailored for large-scale projects in the renewable wind industry.

The versatile F-class vessel is capable of swift conversions, transitioning from the installation of large foundations to erecting wind turbines within a short timeframe. TMC, headquartered in Norway, will undertake the manufacturing and assembly of the equipment in , shipping it to Cosco's shipyard in Qidong, . While the contract's value remains undisclosed, the significance lies in the application of energy-efficient technology to a sizable marine compressed air system.

Hans Petter Tanum, TMC's Director of Sales and Business Development, highlighted the importance of energy efficiency for a vessel of such magnitude, stating, “This is a large vessel, which requires a large capacity marine compressed air system. Consequently, the more energy efficient the system is, the proportionate cost savings become even greater. That is why Cosco and Cadeler have gone for our Smart Air system.”

TMC's Smart Air compressors leverage frequency-controlled technology, providing precise control over compressor speed. The electrical motor adjusts its speed dynamically based on the required air volume, ensuring optimal compressed air consumption. Lower air consumption directly correlates to reduced power consumption, aligning with the vessel's energy-efficient objectives.

As part of the vessel's commitment to sustainability, the implementation of TMC's Smart Air system aligns with the broader industry trend towards eco-friendly solutions in offshore wind projects. The contract signifies a strategic move towards enhancing energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact in the sector.
