James Fisher and Sons to Oversee Critical Testing Services for 132MW South Fork Wind Offshore Project

James Fisher and Sons, a UK-based company, has taken on a pivotal role in the testing and termination services for the 132-megawatt (MW) South Fork Wind , situated off the coast of Long Island, . This project is a joint venture between and Orsted.

James Fisher and Sons' responsibilities encompass overseeing the testing and termination of both export and inter-array cables. In addition, the company is acting as the client's representative to guarantee that wire terminations on all 12 turbines and the substation meet high-quality standards and comply with industry regulations. To enhance the project's integrity, resonance testing is being employed to identify and prevent installation errors, leveraging the extensive experience of James Fisher Renewables in this method.

Maida Zahirovic, the Product Line Director at James Fisher Renewables, expressed their enthusiasm about participating in the South Fork Wind project, underscoring the company's substantial expertise in testing and terminations of export and inter-array cables. They also highlighted their commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure installation safety and quality.

This marks the second occasion this year in which the James Fisher Renewables team has contributed to the South Fork Wind offshore site. During the summer, they introduced a notable solution in the form of a “big bubble curtain” during the installation phase. This innovation created a protective barrier around the piling of foundations, significantly reducing noise levels by up to 90% and safeguarding marine wildlife, according to James Fisher.
