China Longyuan Power Group and a subsidiary of Shanghai Electric Power Co have marked a significant milestone with the completion of what is heralded as the world's inaugural maritime renewable energy endeavor. This pioneering project seamlessly integrates deep-sea floating wind and solar power generation with aquaculture, revolutionizing the sustainable energy landscape.
Shanghai Electric, via its subsidiary Shanghai Electric Wind Power Group, played a pivotal role by supplying the power generation equipment and offshore turbine towers essential for the project's success.
Situated within the National Marine Ranching Demonstration Zone on Nanri Island, nestled in Putian, Fujian Province, this innovative hybrid energy park stands as a testament to modern engineering ingenuity. Comprising three-column semi-submersible floating platforms, each accommodating a 4-megawatt (MW) turbine alongside flexible solar modules, this maritime energy hub has the potential to generate an impressive 96 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity daily at full capacity.
One of the project's most striking features is the hexagonal space at the core of each platform, a dedicated area for fish farming. The region's unique water depth, measuring approximately 35 meters, provided an ideal setting for the integration of diverse sustainable initiatives.
The successful completion of this maritime renewable energy project underscores the ongoing commitment of China Longyuan Power Group and Shanghai Electric to advance the frontiers of clean energy solutions. The endeavor not only showcases the innovative prowess of these companies but also paves the way for a new era in sustainable power generation, fusing wind, solar, and aquaculture in a harmonious and environmentally responsible manner.
