P2X Solutions Oy, a company at the forefront of establishing Finland’s first large-scale green hydrogen plant, has inked an off-take agreement with a local subsidiary of U.S.-based International Flavors & Fragrances Inc.

Under the terms of the agreement, the green hydrogen produced by P2X Solutions Oy will be supplied to the Danisco Sweeteners plant located in Kotka, Finland, where it will play a crucial role in the production of xylitol.

The agreed-upon volume of green hydrogen will be generated at P2X’s facility, which is currently in the construction phase in Harjavalta. This advanced plant is projected to commence operations in the coming year.

P2X initiated construction efforts on this ambitious 20-megawatt project at the start of 2023. The Finnish Power-to-X technology provider enjoys the support of Enersense, a local provider of zero-emission energy solutions. Enersense holds a minority stake of 18.5% in P2X Solutions Oy and is actively involved in the Harjavalta project’s construction, having secured contracts for equipment installation, pipeline infrastructure, and the supply of steel structures.

This collaboration between P2X Solutions Oy and IFF’s local unit represents a significant step towards expanding green hydrogen production in Finland and fostering sustainable solutions for various industries.
