Romania has marked a significant milestone in its renewable energy journey with the official inauguration of the Rătești solar farm, a colossal 155MW project that is now the largest of its kind in Southeast Europe.
This monumental endeavor is a joint venture between Israeli firms Econergy Renewable Energy and Nofar Energy, representing a substantial investment of €102 million in renewable photovoltaic (PV) energy in Romania. Spanning an expansive 170-hectare site, the Rătești solar park is poised to make a substantial contribution to the nation's energy landscape, with an anticipated annual electricity production of approximately 220GWh.
While the project is currently in the testing phase, it is expected to be fully commissioned in the near future. Bogdan Asanache, Country Manager for Econergy Romania, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “It is truly a solar day for us today. As we stand today at the largest photovoltaic park in Romania, we see how the renewable energy sector is rapidly developing in Romania.”
Econergy's Rătești project is a pioneering achievement and the company's first foray into the Romanian market, with a significant development capacity of 2.3GW. Additionally, 410MW of capacity is either under construction or already in operation across the country. These initiatives collectively contribute to enhancing energy independence and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with Romania's goals for 2030.
