Engineering and construction company Bechtel has been selected by Sabanci Renewables to spearhead the design and construction of a 232-megawatt (MW) solar plant in Victoria County, Texas. This marks the latest collaboration between the two entities in the renewable energy sector.
Bechtel will be responsible for the comprehensive project execution, encompassing the site's design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project management. Construction activities are scheduled to commence early next year, with an anticipated completion date set for mid-2025.
Notably, the Oriana Solar project will feature bifacial solar panel technology, which enhances its solar energy absorption capabilities by allowing both sides of the panels to harness sunlight.
The clean, renewable energy generated by the Oriana Solar facility will be integrated into the grid managed by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, ensuring its contribution to the regional energy landscape.
Bechtel's track record in the renewable energy sector is underscored by its successful completion of the Cutlass Solar 1 project for Advanced Power in January of this year. Additionally, the company has reached a significant milestone, passing the halfway point in the construction of Cutlass Solar 2, another project undertaken for Sabanci Renewables.
Scott Austin, General Manager of Bechtel's Renewables & Clean Power business, expressed enthusiasm for this latest venture, emphasizing the utilization of the company's 125 years of expertise in project delivery.
