Italian manufacturer announced on Monday a pivotal contract valued at approximately 900 million euros ($954 million). This agreement, entered into with a public-private consortium, is set to provide a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) 400 KV (kilovolt) single core cable system with XLPE insulation for Clean Path New York, a substantial venture boasting a total worth of $11 billion.

According to Prysmian's official statement, the company will be responsible for the entire life cycle of this intricate cable system, from design and manufacturing to construction, installation, and commissioning. Clean Path New York, a groundbreaking renewable energy endeavor, is being spearheaded by a collaborative partnership between , energyRe, and the New York Power Authority.

The initiative itself is an ambitious one, encompassing the generation of 3,800 MW (megawatts) of wind and power harnessed from over 20 novel resources. To facilitate the distribution of this clean energy, a 175-mile (281.64 km) transmission link, routed both underground and under the sea, forms a critical component of the undertaking.

The anticipated commencement of work is set for spring 2024, contingent upon the fulfillment of all necessary conditions. This venture aligns with New York's broader mission to bolster its renewable energy infrastructure and reduce carbon emissions, ultimately advancing the state's commitment to a more sustainable energy future.
