Ecosse Solar Parks Opens £1.9 Million, 6.7MW Solar Farm in Forfar, Scotland

A £1.9 million funding package has breathed life into a 6.7MW solar farm located in Forfar, in the northeastern region of Scotland. The financial backing, generously provided by Lombard Asset , a part of the Natwest Group, has enabled the 20-acre solar site to commence operations, with plans to sell the generated energy back to the National Grid.

, founded in 2019, represents a pioneering venture by the family-run firm, Albamuirs Ltd., which is known for its diversified portfolio of local businesses. These businesses include a biofuel firm and an facility, the capacity of which remains unspecified. The development of this solar park was an in-house endeavor for the company.

Angus Watson, Director at Ecosse Solar Park, emphasized the company's long-standing commitment to sustainability. He stated, “While we were well established when it came to generating our own solar energy, building of this scale was a completely new challenge, and the support from Lombard has been invaluable. We're now in a position where we're able to use the experience we've gained to help other farmers in the local area move into green energy production.”

Watson also highlighted that the Lombard funding played a pivotal role in enabling the company to invest in the “latest, most up-to-date infrastructure” for the solar park, ensuring its future sustainability.

Dale Robertson, Senior Relationship Manager at Lombard, underscored the organization's commitment to supporting enterprise in the Northeast. He praised Angus and his team for their dedication to sustainable practices while continuing to innovate and grow. “We've worked alongside Albamuirs for over 15 years now and are delighted to support them in their latest venture, which will create a significant boost to green energy production in Forfar and the surrounding areas.”

This investment by Lombard Asset Finance not only exemplifies the growing commitment to sources but also marks a significant stride in expanding green energy production in Scotland's Northeast. The newly operational solar farm is set to make a substantial contribution to the region's sustainability goals.
