French startup WIND my ROOF has successfully raised €2 million ($2.11 million) in a recent funding round, marking a significant step forward in advancing their innovative WindBox technology. This patented solution combines rooftop wind turbines and solar panels and is set to revolutionize the renewable energy sector.
The financing has been provided by a consortium of investors, including Group IDEC INVEST INNOVATION, business angel Antoine FUENTES, and the steadfast support of historical backers, EIT InnoEnergy and VINCI Energies. The capital injection is intended to accelerate the company's growth and fuel the launch of an ambitious project in the Hauts-de-France region.
WIND my ROOF's groundbreaking technology, known as WindBox, is a pioneering hybrid module that seamlessly integrates a specially designed wind turbine, strategically positioned to capture wind at the roof's edge, in combination with two solar panels.
With the newfound funding, the company is poised to diversify applications and use cases for WindBox while prioritizing environmental sustainability and architectural integration.
WIND my ROOF has outlined plans to utilize the investment for industrial and commercial expansion, further project development, and bolstering their workforce.
InnoEnergy, a key supporter of the startup, expressed their confidence in WIND my ROOF's potential to accelerate the global energy transition. Having backed the company since 2020, InnoEnergy is committed to assisting them in their journey towards international expansion and commercial maturity through tailored support.
WIND my ROOF's journey began in 2017 with the creation of their first prototype, which evolved into the development of the inaugural industrial prototype in 2019. Notably, the first deployment of two WindBoxes took place as part of the Oasis énergétiques project at Paris La Défense.
