Swedish energy giant Vattenfall has announced its investment decision to commence the construction of a 67MW onshore wind farm, nestled in the serene surroundings of Velinga, just outside Tidaholm in southern Sweden. With construction set to commence by the end of the year, the project is slated for commissioning in early 2026.
This ambitious venture, comprising 12 turbines, is poised to make a significant contribution to the region's renewable energy landscape, with an estimated annual production of approximately 173GWh. The endeavor is yet another milestone in Vattenfall's ongoing commitment to sustainable energy initiatives.
Daniel Gustafsson, the Head of Onshore Wind Development Sweden at Vattenfall, expressed his delight, stating, “We are proud and happy to be able to start the construction of another wind farm in southern Sweden. We would like to thank landowners, municipalities, suppliers, and other partners for their invaluable cooperation.”
Vattenfall's strategic move aligns with their larger vision to promote clean energy solutions. Earlier this year, the company marked the inauguration of the Grönhult scheme while simultaneously commencing the construction of the Bruzaholm project. Additionally, Vattenfall has taken steps to bolster the efficiency and reliability of their wind farms by implementing two battery storage systems at the Höge väg and Hjuleberg wind farms.
