Iberdrola Deutschland has won the rights to develop three wind energy locations in a recent tender hosted by Forst Baden-Württemberg (ForstBW).
The planned wind farms will occupy a sprawling 790 hectares and are expected to feature approximately 25 turbines. The installations could generate an energy output ranging from 170MW to 200MW, showcasing the large-scale ambitions of the project.
Felipe Montero, the Chief Executive Officer of Iberdrola Deutschland, expressed enthusiasm about the award, stating, “This contract is a milestone that accentuates our focus in the onshore wind sector and reaffirms our comprehensive growth and investment strategy.”
The selection was made in a three-phase process during which roughly 3,000 hectares were earmarked for future wind energy development. This highlights ForstBW's commitment to increasing sustainable energy solutions across the region.
ForstBW, the public institution that managed the award process, has been overseeing more than 300,000 hectares of state forest since the beginning of 2020. As the largest forestry organization in the state, its role in facilitating renewable energy ventures like this one underscores its broader mission of environmental stewardship.
