Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) has officially kicked off the construction of a massive 100-megawatt (MW) solar power plant destined to power the Chadormalu mine, nestled in the heart of Yazd, central Iran.
The momentous groundbreaking ceremony witnessed the presence of Mohammadreza Movassaqinia, the chairman of the IMIDRO board, underscoring the importance of this ambitious renewable energy endeavor.
Spanning a vast 150-hectare expanse in Ashkezar County, this cutting-edge solar power facility represents a substantial investment of €60 million. Once fully operational, it is poised to generate an impressive 190 million kilowatt hours of clean and sustainable electricity on an annual basis.
The construction timeline for this remarkable project is set at 16 months, followed by a rigorous three-month trial operation period to ensure seamless performance. Beyond providing a reliable source of renewable energy, the initiative is expected to yield a substantial environmental dividend, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 115,000 tons annually.
Furthermore, the project's positive impact extends beyond its environmental benefits. Throughout the construction phase, it is projected to generate employment opportunities, with 400 direct jobs and an additional 250 indirect jobs anticipated, breathing new life into the local economy.
