Hanwha Qcells has successfully completed an expansion of its module manufacturing facility located in Dalton, Georgia. The expansion has substantially increased the facility's total capacity, bringing it to an impressive 5.1GW.
The expansion comprised two key components. The first involved ramping up the production capacity of the facility by an additional 2GW, enabling it to manufacture a remarkable 30,000 panels per day. The second component focuses on the introduction of two new solar products: the Q TRON G2 residential panel, designed for residential markets, and a bifacial panel aimed at commercial and utility applications.
This development in Georgia closely follows Hanwha Qcells' announcement earlier this year of a substantial $2.5 billion investment into its US facilities. Part of this investment will contribute to the construction of a new materials manufacturing facility in Cartersville, Georgia. The Cartersville facility is expected to commence operations in the summer of 2024 and, alongside the expanded Dalton facility, will play a pivotal role in Hanwha Qcells' expansion strategy within the US solar market.
Justin Lee, CEO of Hanwha Qcells, expressed his enthusiasm about this achievement, stating, “Completing this factory marks the third expansion we've made in Dalton, and it's just the beginning of Qcells' larger mission to build a fully integrated solar supply chain in America.” He emphasized the importance of collaboration between local and federal leaders and the broader industry to ensure that these investments deliver lasting benefits to communities.
