Aventus Energy, a UK-based firm, has entered into a strategic partnership with Horizon Ocean Management (HOM) to bolster Japan's flourishing offshore wind sector. HOM, renowned for providing advisory, consultancy, and Integrated Management and Repair (IMR) services within Japan's offshore wind industry, has found a valuable ally in Aventus Energy, which will offer a comprehensive suite of technical and engineering services, including inspection, repair, and maintenance, for HOM's offshore wind projects.
Nobuyuki Takagi, Managing Director of HOM, expressed optimism about this collaboration, stating, “Pairing with Aventus Energy, known for its technical expertise, allows us to further enhance our end-to-end solutions for Japan's offshore wind projects, promising both success and resilience.”
In August, Aventus Energy initiated a partnership with Sarens PSG, aiming to provide integrated port marshalling services to the offshore wind sector through a joint venture. Aventus Energy's contributions to this endeavor include protective coatings, inspection and Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE), steel fabrication and installation, specialist rope access systems, and a range of associated services.
On the other hand, HOM was established in 2021 as a joint venture between Japanese conglomerate Mitsui and Hokutaku, a wind turbine maintenance company. Last year, HOM entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rovco to collaborate on through-life subsea asset integrity and balance-of-plant survey solutions tailored for the Japanese offshore wind market.
Japan, committed to becoming carbon-neutral by 2050, has set ambitious targets for offshore wind energy development. The nation aims to deploy 10 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030 and a substantial 30-45 GW by 2040, as part of its broader strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition towards cleaner energy sources.
