OEG Group’s Specialist Marine Consultants Secures Contracts for Offshore Wind Inspections with Orsted

(), a division of OEG Group, has clinched two significant contracts from global leader Orsted. These contracts are geared toward conducting comprehensive inspections of assets within Orsted's expansive offshore wind portfolio.

Under the terms of the first contract, SMC is entrusted with delivering Structural Inspections Above Water (SIAW) services until 2026 at over 15 offshore wind farms. This contract specifically covers Orsted's wind farms in the United Kingdom and the . Orsted's portfolio in these regions comprises 12 operational wind farms in the UK, with an additional three in various stages of development. In the Netherlands, the Borssele 1 & 2 sites are already operational.

The second contract centers on Orsted's operations in Germany. With four sites already constructed and two more under construction, this segment of the agreement underscores SMC's role in inspecting and maintaining external, internal, and confined space areas of the foundation, transition piece, and substation structures.

SMC has been collaborating with Orsted since 2018, and these renewed contracts further solidify their partnership in the offshore wind sector. Dean Coates, Operations Director at SMC, expressed enthusiasm about the continued collaboration, stating, “SMC and Orsted have worked together and grown together since our first collaboration back in 2009. We are genuinely thrilled to have been awarded these key contracts that further cement our position as a world-leading supplier of Inspection and Maintenance services to the offshore wind sector, and that demonstrate our capability to operate internationally.”

Orsted, a global renewable energy giant, currently boasts an impressive 8.9 gigawatts (GW) of installed offshore wind capacity. Their ambitious vision extends to installing a total of 50 GW of renewable energy across various technologies by the year 2030.
