Voltalia Sells 420MW Solar Project in Brazil to Newave Energia

French renewable power company has successfully sold a ready-to-build 420MW photovoltaic (PV) project in Brazil to , a prominent Brazilian energy company.

Situated in the eastern state of , Voltalia will oversee not only the construction of the solar project but also the essential maintenance services for its electrical infrastructure.

This solar plant is an integral part of the broader solar cluster known as Arinos, boasting an impressive combined capacity of over 1.8GW. Remarkably, this marks the third solar cluster launched by Voltalia in Brazil, following a substantial 2.5GW portfolio in the state of Rio Grande do Norte and a 1GW cluster in . This summer, Voltalia initiated production on a segment of a 260MW solar PV project, a vital component of the Rio Grande do Norte cluster.

During its financial results presentation for the first half of 2023, Voltalia candidly addressed the challenges posed by a widespread blackout in Brazil over the summer. This event resulted in the delayed connection of new power plants to the grid, impacting the pace of their Brazilian projects.

Sébastien Clerc, CEO of Voltalia, expressed enthusiasm about the company's achievements in the Arinos cluster, stating, “Our success with the Arinos cluster demonstrates our skill in developing high-quality energy projects. It not only adds to our future project pipeline of sites to be built but also lets our partners contribute to renewable energy growth. We're delighted to be joining forces with Newave Energia.”
