Japan is set to provide substantial subsidies amounting to 30.6 billion yen (approximately $205 million) for hydrogen fuel cell systems and related equipment, according to a report by the Nikkei business daily.
The Japanese government's decision is primarily geared towards bolstering the development of components essential for electric aircraft with reduced carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, the newspaper revealed.
The policy is anticipated to be officially presented by the country's trade ministry at a working group meeting of the ministry's council.
Under this initiative, 17.3 billion yen will be earmarked for the development of hydrogen fuel cell systems designed for aircraft, while an additional 13.3 billion yen will be allocated for the advancement of fuel-efficient engine control systems, as reported by the Nikkei.
