Ventus Energy has secured a significant contract to supply highly skilled senior authorized persons (SAPs) to provide round-the-clock support for the 3600MW Dogger Bank offshore wind farm.
The three-year contract, awarded to Ventus Energy's North Shields base in northeast England, places eight of the organization's specialist electrical engineers, known as SAPs, at the disposal of the Dogger Bank project. These SAPs have the critical responsibility of responding to site incidents involving 400kV operations, the highest voltage in use in the UK. While the contract primarily supports emergency response, Ventus Energy will also be available for planned operations, offering Dogger Bank a wide range of high voltage services and access to the company's turnkey solutions.
This strategic partnership ensures that Dogger Bank benefits from quick response times, minimizing potential downtime and contributing to the project's overall efficiency.
Rauri Maguire, Director of Operations at Ventus Energy, expressed pride in this significant contract, stating, “This recent contract celebrates using local firms such as ourselves to support one of the UK's most critical energy sites. When complete, Dogger Bank Wind Farm will have a significant impact on the drive towards net zero, and Ventus Energy is incredibly proud to be playing a part in contributing to this important goal.”
The role of SAPs is highly specialized and in demand across the country. Ventus Energy's commitment to investing in this skill set supports the growth of new and larger wind farms across the UK. Their SAPs' attainment of a 400kV authorization under Dogger Bank's Safe System of Work highlights the knowledge and experience the company brings to the market.
Maguire emphasized the importance of this discipline in the renewables industry, saying, “At Ventus, we know how integral this discipline is to the renewables industry as it further progresses energy generation in a safe and efficient manner, so we're proud to be one of few UK companies with this specialist offering. We look forward to working closely with Dogger Bank Wind Farm to help deliver this major development.”
