German truck manufacturer Daimler Truck, in conjunction with energy company EnBW and the administration of Woerth am Rhein in south-western Germany, has established a groundbreaking joint venture focused on environmentally friendly geothermal energy production, the company announced on Friday.
The primary objective of this venture is to investigate the feasibility of extracting geothermal energy from the region surrounding Woerth am Rhein. If deemed viable, plans include the establishment of a geothermal power plant to supply energy to the Daimler Truck manufacturing facility located in Woerth.
Daimler Truck also outlined an eco-conscious approach by indicating that any excess energy, constituting 10% of the total production, will be channeled into Woerth's heating networks, as detailed in the official statement.
Geothermal power, harnessed from beneath the Earth's surface, holds a distinct advantage in its emissions-free production process, aligning with the broader trend of renewable energy sources.
