Masdar, the renowned renewable energy company, marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of a 104MW wind project in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The project, part of the UAE Wind Program, is set to showcase the viability of low wind speed turbines on a utility scale.
Spanning across four strategic locations, the UAE Wind Program facility promises to make a substantial impact by providing clean energy to over 23,000 UAE homes annually. These locations include Sir Bani Yas Island (45MW), Delma Island (27MW) in Abu Dhabi, Al Sila, Abu Dhabi (27MW), and Al Halah, Fujairah (4.5MW).
The inauguration ceremony, held on the picturesque Sir Bani Yas Island, saw the esteemed presence of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During this momentous occasion, Sheikh Khaled witnessed the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between the Emirates Water and Electricity Company and Masdar. The PPA will ensure the efficient utilization of wind power generated from the Sir Bani Yas Island, Al Sila, and Delma Island projects.
