Sojitz and Eneos Collaborate to Unveil Australia’s Largest Solar Power Plant

Japanese trading company and leading Japanese refiner have announced the successful launch of a substantial power plant in Queensland, . This venture marks a significant step in the global trend of Japanese companies investing in projects as part of their efforts to diversify portfolios and align with “net zero” targets while also gaining valuable overseas experience to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

The Edenvale Solar Park, boasting an impressive capacity of 204 megawatts, initiated construction in June 2021 and was officially inaugurated on September 28th, as stated in a joint announcement by Sojitz and Eneos. While specific financial details were not disclosed, both companies hold an equal 50% stake in the joint venture responsible for operating the plant.

Notably, this solar power facility stands out as the largest of its kind in Australia, spearheaded by Japanese investors.
