RWE has successfully commissioned its 10MW ground-mounted Las Vaguadas solar farm in the province of Badajoz, Spain. This milestone comes on the heels of the completion of the Casa Valdes and Puerta del Sol projects, with a combined capacity of 88 MW, and the ongoing construction of the 92MW Gazules project. Together, these initiatives underscore the company's commitment to the growth of solar power in Spain.
RWE, a prominent player in the renewable energy industry, has strategically placed 20,000 solar panels across an expansive area of approximately 15 hectares. These panels, equipped with advanced bifacial technology, are poised to harness the abundant solar energy available in the region.
Katja Wunschel, the CEO of RWE Renewables Europe & Australia, expressed enthusiasm about the company's achievements in the Spanish solar market. She stated, “Solar power in Spain is a success story. We have realized the solar farms Casa Valdes, Puerta del Sol, and Las Vaguadas and started building our solar project Gazules – together the four solar farms have around 500,000 bifacial solar modules. Soon, we will have expanded our solar capacity in our Spanish core market to around 250MW – enough to supply thousands of Spanish homes with energy from the sun. This is a great achievement.”
