Vestas Expands Presence in Turkey with 25 MW Order for Akyel Wind Park

, a notable player in the energy sector, has solidified its commitment to sustainable energy growth with a significant order for the Akyel wind park in the Karaman Region, Turkey. The order, placed with , includes the supply and installation of four V162-6.2 MW wind turbines, marking a substantial step towards Turkey's clean energy objectives.

Levent Ishak, General Manager of Vestas , expressed gratitude for Sanko Holding's trust in Vestas' EnVentus platform. “So far, we have signed over 150 MW in EnVentus orders in Türkiye, which shows the suitability of Vestas' modular technology for the Turkish market,” he noted.

Sanko Energy's CEO, Hakan Yıldırım, lauded Vestas as a valuable partner in their pursuit of sustainable energy growth. He announced, “Today, we celebrate the signing of a capacity expansion agreement for a 25 MW wind farm, which adds to our existing 50 MW wind farm.” Yıldırım highlighted their recent achievement of integrating a 50 MW solar plant as a hybrid system at the Akyel wind farm, increasing their total capacity to 100 MW. With this new wind capacity expansion, the Akyel facility alone will reach 125 MW. Looking ahead, Sanko Energy is committed to an ambitious vision: doubling their current 1,000 MW installed capacity within the next decade, with a primary focus on harnessing wind and solar power. Yıldırım expressed confidence in Vestas' pivotal role in their ongoing growth journey.

Turbine delivery is scheduled for the first half of 2024, with commissioning expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of the same year.

Vestas has a rich history in Turkey, installing the country's first in 1984. Since then, the company has contributed over 2 GW of wind capacity to Turkey, further solidifying its position as a key player in the nation's landscape.
