Vestas, a prominent name in the renewable energy sector, has successfully secured a significant order worth 38 MW for the Iwaki Miwa Wind Farm in Fukushima prefecture, Japan. This project, owned by JR East Energy Development Co., Ltd., is set to make substantial contributions to Japan's commitment to carbon neutrality.
The Iwaki Miwa Wind Farm will see the collaboration of two industry leaders, Vestas and Toda Corporation, in bringing sustainable wind energy solutions to fruition. The project's highlight features nine V117-4.2 MW wind turbines, known for their efficiency and reliability in harnessing wind power.
As part of this venture, Vestas will provide 20 years of Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service, ensuring that the wind farm operates optimally. This service includes an energy-based availability guarantee, adding an extra layer of assurance to the project's long-term sustainability and economic viability.
Purvin Patel, the President of Vestas Asia Pacific, expressed his enthusiasm about this partnership, saying, “We are pleased to partner with Toda Corporation and JR East Energy Development again and to provide our wind energy solutions for the project. We remain committed to contributing to Japan's carbon neutrality goal, through our industry-leading wind energy solutions and strong partnership with our customers.”
The timeline for this project is set with delivery of the turbines commencing in the first quarter of 2026, followed by commissioning scheduled for the same year. With this collaboration, Vestas takes a significant step towards furthering clean and sustainable energy solutions, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.
