Plenitude, a subsidiary of Eni, has celebrated a significant milestone with the inauguration of its first photovoltaic solar farm in Kazakhstan. Situated in proximity to Shaulder village in the Turkistan Region, this solar facility boasts an impressive 50MW installed capacity, further strengthening Plenitude's international renewable energy portfolio and reinforcing its presence in Kazakhstan's burgeoning renewables sector, facilitated through its subsidiary Arm Wind.
Spanning across 100 hectares of land, the photovoltaic plant is projected to generate up to 90GWh of electricity annually. It is equipped with more than 93,000 cutting-edge solar panels and includes a strategically placed electrical substation. To integrate the generated electricity into the local grid, a new overhead powerline stretching over 7.5km has been established.
Stefano Goberti, CEO of Plenitude, expressed the company's commitment to advancing solar energy in Kazakhstan, stating, “The construction of the Shaulder photovoltaic farm represents the first important step for Plenitude in the solar energy sector in Kazakhstan. The plant will contribute to the development of Turkistan Region by making available to the local territory the most advanced technologies in this field.”
This ambitious project complements Plenitude's previous ventures in the region, including the inauguration of two wind farms, Badamsha-1 and Badamsha-2, in 2020 and 2022, respectively. The Shaulder photovoltaic farm aligns with Kazakhstan's ongoing energy transition initiatives and underscores the nation's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality goals.
Plenitude's foray into Kazakhstan's solar energy landscape signifies a pivotal moment in the nation's renewable energy journey, offering a sustainable path forward in the global pursuit of clean and green energy solutions.
