US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Concludes Environmental Review of Dominion Energy’s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Project

The United States (BOEM) has successfully wrapped up its comprehensive environmental review of the proposed (CVOW) commercial project. This significant undertaking is being spearheaded by Dominion Energy and is strategically positioned Virginia Beach, Virginia, with the potential to deliver a substantial 2.6 gigawatts (GW) of clean and dependable offshore wind energy.

A Notice of Availability concerning the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Dominion Energy's proposed CVOW project is slated to be published in the Federal Register on September 29, 2023. The final EIS rigorously assesses the potential environmental consequences associated with the activities outlined in the Construction and Operations Plan. This plan encompasses the installation of up to 202 generators, along with the corresponding offshore and onshore export cables.

BOEM is set to make a pivotal decision in the upcoming autumn regarding the approval of the project, signifying a critical juncture in advancing clean energy initiatives.

He expressed confidence in the project's successful realization, highlighting the collaboration with government partners in achieving essential project milestones.
