Danish Firm Obton Secures Rights for Its Maiden Solar Farm Project in Sweden

Obton, a development company, has successfully acquired rights to embark on its inaugural farm project in . This strategic venture will see the establishment of a solar facility located in the southwestern region of Stockholm, boasting a substantial production capacity of 15 megawatts peak (MWp).

Kenneth Kolvits, Senior Business Development Manager at Obton and the driving force behind the company's entry into the Swedish market, shared insights into the project's timeline. He indicated that the project is poised to reach the “ready-to-build” phase by June 2024. Following this crucial milestone, the solar park is slated to become operational by the close of 2025.

Kolvits elaborated on the cooperative dynamics that have enabled this endeavor, stating, “We have entered into a cooperation agreement with our Swedish partner, and this first project has shown that we work very well together. We contribute with our strengths in the evaluation of solar energy projects, financing, as well as construction and operation, while our Swedish partner contributes with extensive local knowledge as well as effective management and progress within project development.”

He further highlighted Obton's ambitions in the Swedish market, indicating that the company is already evaluating several solar and storage projects in the country. Leveraging their Swedish partner's wealth of experience from both the domestic market and various international projects, Obton is well-positioned to realize its goals and contribute to the landscape in Sweden.
