Axpo has entered into a long-term wind energy power purchase agreement (PPA) with Pilkington Automotive Finland Oy. This collaborative effort is poised to supply Pilkington Automotive Finland's two manufacturing facilities with an annual total of 35 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of wind-generated electricity. The source of this renewable power is the 30-megawatt (MW) Storbacken wind farm, situated near Voyri in Finland. The PPA is set to span eight years.
David Eickhoff, Originator at Axpo Sverige AB, underscored the significance of this agreement, particularly in a climate where long-term commitments are increasingly challenging to secure. He emphasized that despite the prevailing difficulties, Axpo's expertise and market knowledge enable the successful facilitation of sustainability goals for their clients.
Jussi Parkkali, Managing Director of Pilkington Automotive Finland Oy, expressed his satisfaction with the long-term PPA, highlighting its role in ensuring a renewable electricity supply for their Finnish facilities. By locking in fixed prices for zero-carbon electricity, especially in times characterized by market volatility, Pilkington Automotive Finland aims to provide stability for its customers and make substantial strides toward achieving its sustainability objectives.
