Swedish solar company Alight is expanding its presence into the Finnish market with the construction of a significant solar photovoltaic (PV) project, boasting a capacity exceeding 100MW.
Scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2024, the ground-mounted solar project will be situated in Eurajoki, western Finland, with plans for commissioning in the first quarter of 2026. Covering an extensive area of 123 hectares, the project is anticipated to produce approximately 107GWh of electricity annually, making it one of the largest solar parks in development within Finland.

Warren Campbell, Chief Operations Officer at Alight, expressed enthusiasm about the company's foray into the Finnish market, emphasizing the project's contribution to Finland's ambitious objectives of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035 and becoming the world's first fossil fuel-free society.
This expansion follows Alight's announcement of plans to construct a 64MW solar farm in Hallstavik, Sweden, in June. Located in the municipality of Norrtälje in southeastern Sweden, the project has already secured a 12-year power purchase agreement with Swedish retailer Axfood.
In July, Alight established an office in Madrid, Spain, as part of its strategy to leverage the city's experienced talent pool to support the company's growth and development across Europe.
