The 1,900-tonne topside of the Gode Wind 3 wind farm's Offshore Substation (OSS) and Modular Support Frame has embarked on its journey from Chantiers de l'Atlantique's shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France, destined for its installation site in the German North Sea.
This key component, which boasts a remarkable 242MW power output capacity, is poised to play a crucial role in collecting and exporting power generated by offshore wind turbines. Additionally, it will be responsible for remotely overseeing and managing the site's operations.

Frederic Grizaud, the director of Atlantique Offshore Energy, Chantiers de l'Atlantique Business Unit dedicated to Marine Energy, highlighted the significance of this achievement, stating, “This important milestone demonstrates the capacity of the company to carry out turn-key projects, as it is the first Electrical Offshore Substation Orsted entrusted under a full EPC scheme.”
The successful transport of the topside to its designated installation site marks a significant step forward in the Gode Wind 3 wind farm project, and all eyes are now on the upcoming offshore commissioning phase.
