Biomethane producer CycleØ has joined forces with Spanish livestock farm Granja La Carbona to inaugurate Spain's inaugural biomethane facility featuring ammonia stripping technology. This pioneering initiative aims to convert manure into sustainable fertilizers, marking a significant stride towards eco-friendly agricultural practices.
With an investment of €2.5 million, CycleØ has overseen the development and construction of this state-of-the-art facility at Granja La Carbona. This cutting-edge establishment boasts a maximum production capacity of 15,000 MWh annually, effectively mitigating approximately 9,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.

CycleØ's industrial subsidiary, FNX, has played a pivotal role in this endeavor, spearheading the design and construction of biogas upgrading technology. This technology encompasses exclusive, highly optimized membrane-based cleaning and biogas compression equipment, enabling the production of Bio-CNG or Bio-LNG with an exceptional purity level of 99%.
Jordi Berengué Piqué, Managing Director of FNX, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We're very excited about this project. This is an excellent example of how our modular biogas upgrading technology can bring numerous benefits to the agri-food sector, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and developing circular economy models.”
This small-scale facility now stands as CycleØ's second operational installation in Spain, marking the company's maiden venture in the country, covering all aspects from development to operation. Furthermore, CycleØ is set to complete its third Spanish facility in the upcoming months, situated on another livestock farm in close proximity to Granja La Carbona. With an investment of €2 million, this plant is poised to produce 10 GWh of biomethane per annum, equivalent to the energy consumption of 1,250 households annually.
CycleØ's CEO, Laurence Molke, underscored the versatility of their biomethane production, noting, “The biomethane we produce can be injected into existing gas grids, and the Bio-CNG or Bio-LNG can be used as fuel for heavy transport. Through projects like this one, we're investing in Spain's emerging bioenergy market and helping meet national decarbonization targets—while working with farmers to reduce costs and increase sustainability.”
