Spanish renewable energy company Grenergy Renovables has enlisted the services of quality control firm Enertis Applus+ to provide technical advisory support for its 386MWp solar PV portfolio in Chile and Peru. This portfolio encompasses three key projects: the 241MWp Gran Teno and the 48MWp Tamango plants located in the Maule region of Chile, along with the 97MWp Matarani project in the southern department of Arequipa, Peru.
Enertis Applus+ will play a crucial role by offering assistance during the construction, commissioning, and operational phases of these solar facilities. The company has already conducted a comprehensive technical due diligence assessment for each installation, thoroughly evaluating factors such as site characteristics, design, main equipment, energy production estimations, permits, and grid connectivity.
Furthermore, Enertis Applus+ will carefully review the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts, as well as the operation and maintenance (O&M) agreements, and the power purchase agreement (PPA) that governs the sale of energy. The capital expenditure (CapEx) will also be subject to scrutiny.
To realize these projects, Grenergy secured $148 million in green financing from leading French banks BNP Paribas and Societe Générale. This funding will be instrumental in completing the development of two solar PV ventures in Chile, with a combined capacity of approximately 300MW.
Aitor Ilundain, Chile Country Manager and Regional Manager for LATAM South at Enertis Applus+, expressed gratitude towards BNP Paribas and Société Générale for their trust in the Enertis Applus+ team. Their involvement is pivotal in ensuring the successful development of this cross-border PV portfolio spanning Chile and Peru, from the initial financing phase to full operational deployment.
