Atrato Onsite Energy has recently announced the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with OVO Energy for their 50-megawatt (MW) solar project, known as Project Skeeby, located in Richmond, Yorkshire. The Skeeby site, which was acquired by Atrato in April 2023, is currently undergoing installation and is expected to be fully operational by March 2024.
Under the terms of the agreement, Atrato will supply OVO Energy with a reliable stream of 49 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean energy annually. This significant supply is estimated to result in a reduction of approximately 9,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. These savings are equivalent to powering approximately 17,000 homes in the UK or planting 380,000 trees.
The PPA guarantees a fixed revenue stream for Atrato over a period of three years, with prices set at a predetermined level and annual uplifts reflecting the energy produced by the Skeeby solar site. This agreement not only ensures stability for Atrato but also promotes the continued growth of renewable energy in the region.
Gurpreet Gujral, Managing Director of Atrato Partners, the investment advisor to the company, expressed great satisfaction with the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to be supplying OVO, one of the largest electricity suppliers in the UK.” Gujral further highlighted the strategic positioning of Atrato's solar PV portfolio, which encompasses a variety of Power Purchase Agreement maturities, offering flexibility in response to power price fluctuations.
The collaboration between Atrato Onsite Energy and OVO Energy represents a significant step towards achieving sustainable energy goals in the UK. By harnessing the power of solar energy at the Skeeby site, Atrato is poised to contribute to a greener future while supporting the energy needs of thousands of households.
