Doris, an engineering company, has recently secured a second front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the Gray Whale 3 floating offshore wind farm located in South Korea. The scope of this FEED encompasses the complete electrical and communications system of the project, including the grid connection, array and export cabling, as well as all aspects related to the fixed offshore substation foundation and topsides structures.
The development of Gray Whale 3 is being undertaken by BadaEnergy, a joint venture between Corio Generation, TotalEnergies, and SK ecoplant. Once completed, it will be one of the largest floating offshore wind projects globally, boasting a capacity of 504MW. Situated approximately 60km-70km from the port of Ulsan, this venture is part of a three-phase development that is expected to achieve a total capacity of 1.5GW.

BadaEnergy had previously awarded the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) / Doris consortium the contract for the floating foundation FEED last year. Now, Doris plans to utilize its local resources, Korean partners' expertise, and its international engineering centers to successfully deliver the project.

BadaEnergy also expressed their satisfaction with the selection of Doris for this FEED contract, highlighting their commitment to leading the green energy transition in Korea. They emphasized that the Gray Whale 3 project will contribute to the growth of renewables in Korea, thanks to Doris' engineering capability and substantial understanding of the Korean renewables industry.
