In a groundbreaking partnership, Eidsiva and Hafslund, two major energy companies in Norway, have joined forces to spearhead the development of onshore wind power. This ambitious endeavor is being undertaken in close collaboration with host municipalities, landowners, and local communities, aiming to harness the untapped potential of renewable energy.
Eidsiva and Hafslund, both owned by Innlandet County Council, 28 municipalities in Innlandet, and Oslo Municipality, have an illustrious track record spanning over a century in the field of renewable energy development and production. Leveraging their vast experience, these companies are poised to make a significant impact in the realm of sustainable power generation.

Petter Myrvold, the Executive Vice President for Strategy and Growth at Eidsiva, emphasized the importance of their public ownership structure in safeguarding local interests and regional benefits. He stated, “We represent a robust public ownership that, together with host municipalities and landowners, will be able to safeguard local considerations and regional spin-off effects in a good way.”
Recognizing that the development, implementation, and operation of onshore wind power projects are intrinsically tied to the values and resources of society, Martin Lundby, the Deputy CEO and CEO of Hafslund Vekst, underscored the significance of inclusive processes and broad stakeholder involvement. He added, “Good processes and broad involvement are therefore important. Together with positive ripple effects, we believe these are important factors in achieving local acceptance and good coexistence for new onshore wind power developments in Norway.”

To kickstart their venture, Eidsiva and Hafslund have conducted an initial assessment of the wind power potential in eastern Norway. Moreover, they have already commenced preliminary exploratory discussions with several municipalities and landowners, setting the stage for a comprehensive and collaborative effort towards realizing Norway's wind energy ambitions.
