ACWA Power Partners with Energy China Group for Solar Project in Uzbekistan

, a developer of power and water projects, has recently entered into an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract with Group Corporation (CEEC) for a noteworthy project in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This significant collaboration is poised to contribute to Uzbekistan's ambitious goals of transitioning to a low-carbon economy and diversifying its energy sources.

The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for this solar plant was previously finalized in March 2023, following negotiations between ACWA Power, JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan (NEGU), and the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade. This agreement solidified the foundations for the forthcoming project.

In an official ceremony held in Riyadh, , Raad Al Saady, the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of ACWA Power, and LYU Zexiang, Chairman of the China Energy International Group, formally signed the EPC contract. Their meeting not only marked a significant milestone but also demonstrated the shared commitment of both organizations to promote sustainable energy solutions.

The forthcoming solar project in Tashkent is set to make a remarkable impact by introducing clean and sustainable energy to the nation. By harnessing the power of the sun, Uzbekistan will be able to leverage renewable resources, thereby reducing its reliance on traditional energy sources and fostering environmental sustainability.

Raad Al Saady of ACWA Power expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Energy China Group Corporation on this solar initiative in Uzbekistan. This endeavor aligns perfectly with our vision of advancing sustainable energy solutions and supporting countries in their pursuit of a greener future.”

LYU Zexiang of the China Energy International Group echoed these sentiments, saying, “We are honored to partner with ACWA Power and jointly contribute to Uzbekistan's sector. Through this solar project, we aim to facilitate the country's transition towards a low-carbon economy and promote the use of clean energy sources.”
