Mytilineos Energy & Metals has successfully acquired a 1.4GW portfolio consisting of five solar projects from Westbridge Renewable Energy Corp. These projects, currently in the development phase in Alberta, Canada, include the Georgetown solar farm with a capacity of 230MW, the Sunnynook project with 280MW, the Dolcy project with 200MW, the Eastervale project with 300MW, and the Red Willow project with 225MW.
To ensure a comprehensive assessment, Renewables Consulting Group (RCG) served as the sole technical advisor, offering extensive technical due diligence for the portfolio. Their involvement encompassed a thorough evaluation of engineering and preliminary design, review of interconnection and transmission systems, independent energy yield analysis, permitting, development, transaction/commercial market intelligence, and stakeholder review.
Expressing his satisfaction, Luis Laguna, Regional Managing Director for North America at Mytilineos, stated, “Our entry into the Canadian market marks a significant milestone, and we are thrilled to achieve this remarkable feat. We extend our gratitude to RCG for their invaluable guidance and advice throughout our journey in Alberta.”
Bert Chen, Principal at RCG, further commented, “RCG takes pride in introducing Mytilineos to the Alberta and Canadian market and providing meticulous due diligence for their portfolio. With Mytilineos' global expertise, we believe they possess the necessary resources and knowledge to develop these projects successfully as a new participant in the Alberta market.”
The acquisition of this substantial solar portfolio by Mytilineos Energy & Metals demonstrates their commitment to expanding their renewable energy footprint and contributing to the growth of the Alberta renewable energy sector.
