ABB Chosen to Provide Technology for Havfram Wind’s New Wind Turbine Installation Vessels

, a technology company, has been selected to supply integrated bridge-to-propeller technology for Wind's upcoming NG20000X-HF Wind Turbine Installation Vessels (WTIVs). This decision comes following an order placed by Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore.

The scope of ABB's involvement includes four Azipod electric main propulsion units with a combined power output of 17MW, the Onboard DC Grid power distribution system, a 4.1MWh energy storage installation, ABB Ability Marine Pilot Control featuring Dynamic Positioning System for advanced control, and a comprehensive package of automation and digital technology.

Once operational, the WTIVs will have the ability to connect to the ABB Ability Collaborative Operations network, enabling remote support and predictive maintenance. These vessels will incorporate the latest battery-hybrid drivetrain technology and will be capable of installing offshore wind turbines with rotor diameters exceeding 300 meters. Additionally, they will be equipped to handle XXL monopiles weighing up to 3000 tonnes at water depths of up to 70 meters.
