Renewable energy company Enercon has recently been awarded a significant contract by Kalyon Enerji to supply turbines for multiple wind projects across various regions in Turkey. Under the agreement, Enercon will provide and install 64 E-138 EP3 turbines for Kalyon's developments in the country.
This deal comes as part of the YEKA RES-3 tender initiated by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in 2022. The tender aimed to allocate a total capacity of 850MW, and Kalyon successfully obtained a substantial portion of 260MW. The 64 E-138 EP3 turbines will be strategically deployed in Kalyon Enerji's YEKA RES-3 projects located in Elazığ, Bilecik, Bayburt, Ankara, and Trabzon regions.
An essential aspect of the E-138 EP3 series is its high level of localization in production. With the exception of the nacelles, all main components of these turbines are manufactured within Turkey. Tayfun Bayraktar, the Sales & After Sales Director for the Enercon Region Central Asia, Middle East, and Africa (CAMEA), expressed pride in the company's 25 years of experience and well-established supply chain network, which led to the development of the E-138 EP3 turbine type as the most localized wind turbine in Turkey. Currently, more than 150 E-138 EP3 turbines have been successfully installed and commissioned in the country.
Enercon has previously demonstrated its capabilities by undertaking the entire turbine supply and installation for the 1000MW YEKA RES 2 project. Arif Günyar, the Enercon regional head of CAMEA, emphasized the significance of the recent turbine supply agreement for YEKA RES 3, highlighting Enercon's reliability as a turbine supplier and its substantial contribution to Turkey's energy transition efforts.
